Cranleigh STEM is looking for a driven control and instrumentation engineer to join an innovative sustainability business on a permanent, full-time basis.
Our client's goal is to develop products that will lead the transition to carbon-negative building materials for the future.
You will own the controls and automation function of the pilot production line, optimising this platform through continuous improvement whilst working closely with the mechanical and chemical engineering departments.
To be successful you will possess industrial automation experience, excellent problem-solving skills and hold a formal qualification in electrical, or related field engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth and reliable operation of our pilot production line by actively troubleshooting issues and proactively identifying areas for improvement on a day-to-day basis.
- Conduct thorough fault-finding and analysis within the existing automated platform to identify and rectify any issues affecting its performance.
- Work closely with the mechanical engineering team to define, design, and implement the next generation of industrial-scale materials.
- Collaborate with the quality function to gather and provide in-line product monitoring data, contributing to the ongoing improvement of product quality and consistency.
- Maintain close communication with the chemical process engineering team to monitor curing conditions and optimise the production process.
- Code controls software with a focus on industrial automation requirements, prioritising robust functionality over perfection while ensuring the software supports the automation needs effectively.
Requirements:
- Proven industrial experience in a related role.
- Experience in coding software for automation, competent working in Ladder Logic and ST code.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to confidently specify equipment and systems based on fundamental principles and sound engineering knowledge.
- Hold a formal qualification in electrical, or related field engineering.
- Possess experience in software integration.
Salary: £42,500 - £47,500
