CK Group are recruiting for a Petrochemicals Senior Analyst to work in a Laboratory Coordinator role with a contract testing company at their site based near Grimsby, on a full time permanent basis.
Reporting to the UK Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate will have proven analytical testing experience with petrochemical samples. You will produce analytical results to a high degree of accuracy to pre-set targets, within parameters and Key Performance Indicators. You will coordinate daily analytical workloads, liaising and interfacing with clients and organising out of hours cover. Please note that this person will be on call every other weekend. The company offers a salary in the range of £30,000pa depending on experience plus overtime.
Location:
The Laboratory Coordinator will be based at the company's site near Grimsby, easily commutable from surrounding areas such as Hull, Stallingborough, Scunthorpe, Immingham, Louth.
Senior Chemist Role:
Your main duties will be to:
- Comply with UKAS ISO 17025 Accreditation, ISO 9001 Certification, Client Guidelines, company procedures, HSE policies, Health & Safety at Work Act (including COSHH)
- Manage and meet Clients' analytical expectations
- Preparation and review of analytical documentation. Authorised signatory for result release to clients
- Supervise and perform analysis on a wide range of Petroleum and Petrochemical products
- Liaise with clients on a day-to-day basis on operational and technical issues
- Draw samples from various locations such as Refineries, Storage Terminals, Marine Tankers, and Road Vehicles for the purposes of Analysis
- Ownership of calibration management systems, supervising and performing periodic calibrations of Laboratory instruments, internally or externally
- Investigate and report on quality incidents, near misses etc.
- Safety Representative for site, Control and Management of Safety, COSHH Assessments, MSDS Including safety walk rounds in the lab
- Assign and coordinate the daily workload of the personnel within the Laboratory
- Develop, monitor and review individually tailored training plans for all staff
- Maintain existing client relationships and be the focal point for new clients when they come on board
- Attend client visits with colleagues
- Ownership of Laboratory to produce analytical results to a high degree of accuracy within time expectations
- ISO 17025 ? Accountable for the smooth running of UKAS systems
Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
- Proven industrial analytical testing experience with petrochemical samples - essential
- Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant subject
- A thorough knowledge of laboratory etiquette, and analytical methodology adopted by the Oil and Petrochemicals Industry
- Ideally IOSH or NEBOSH Qualified
- Ability to run an efficient cost effective and safe laboratory
- Holder of a valid UK driving licence (manual vehicle)
- Willingness to work/ be on call alternating weekends
