A growing scientific technology and innovation house based in Huntingdon are in the process of expansion and are hiring for an applied physicist to join their research team.
As an applied physicist, you will be charged with accelerating the development of the next generation materials aimed at reducing C02 emissions. This will include working within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to maximise the performance of new materials, specifically working on the development and testing of thermally conductive composites for electronics.
Some other key parts to the role will include;
- The development of processes for composite materials using techniques such as film casting, hot pressing, and coating.
- The measurement of material melt rheology and the selection of materials and development of compositions to achieve desired properties.
- Researching into thermal conductivity and other material properties critical to the application
To be considered for this role we are looking for people with strong knowledge of applied physics and materials science, coupled with experience in composite materials and incorporating them into devices. This experience will be backed up with physics-related academics, ideally to PhD level but this role is flexible. This will be a two-year fixed term contract, with a view to be made permanent thereafter, although that is not guaranteed.
