Process Chemist

A multinational chemical development business is recruiting a Process Chemist to join its R&D team based in Ascot, on a permanent basis. You will play an important role in process development and commercialisation of new products across the business - whilst having the ability to support cross-functional activities including R&D, Business, Supply Chain and Purchasing.

Process Chemist responsibilities

  • Develop products defining the manufacturing processes from bench scale studies with first-time manufacturing success.
  • Understand fundamental correlations between process conditions and process chemistry.
  • Champion safe and efficient process research.
  • Support stage-gate processes to develop opportunities for product and process improvement.
  • Provide guidance for R&D during early product conceptualization to develop a testing plan consistent with the manufacturing process.
  • Assure that complete ISO documentation is maintained on all ISO or quality-related activities. Participate in ISO-related activities and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the ISO function.

Process Chemist requirements

  • Degree level qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related.
  • Experience demonstrating applied knowledge and understanding of process chemistry.
  • Exposure and proven track record of successful R&D scale-up activities.
  • The ability to understand and develop new chemistries at the bench and provide the necessary knowledge to account for the differences discovered during commercialization. The understanding of how the components interact with each other.
  • Decision-making in a timely manner based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to manage tasks and activities and achieve their completion within the agreed framework, across regional and organizational boundaries.
