A global specialty chemicals company is looking for a Regulatory Toxicologist to join their team.
You will be responsible for providing global regulatory and scientific support for both new and existing products, raw materials, and processes. You will be working directly with the dept. manager and compliance team to understand and reduce hazards/risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will have a scientific background, and several years of commercial experience in toxicology, REACH, and hazardous chemicals with toxicology regulations.
The Role
Function as an integral part of the global GPC Team by effectively analyzing and understanding hazards (e.g., EU CLP, US OSHA HCS, or WHMIS) and risks associated with new and existing global raw materials and products, then communicating the hazard and risk to product stewards, chemists, manufacturing, and sales and marketing managers
Understand and apply TSCA, REACH, and global REACH-like legislation.
Create and maintain lead registrants' dossiers using IUCLID.
Create and maintain PMNs, LVEs, and other data using CDX.
Determine test requirements associated with the relevant legislation.
Evaluate dossiers and registrations and identify information gaps and recommend strategies to fill gaps.
Coordinate study quotes, review study protocols, and monitor toxicological studies at Contract Research Organizations (CROs) to ensure compliance.
Design, implement, and execute processes and evaluations related to food contact materials, hazard classifications, ecotoxicity, QSAR, and read across.
Provide consultation and support to the GPC Team to facilitate the completion of internal and external customer inquiries, such as, but not limited to, SDSs, GHS labels, food contact clearances, chemical registrations, or toxicological testing.
Directly interact with the business, R&D, and marketing to highlight Toxicology Services' expertise, allowing for collaboration and input on current and new processes.
Experience Required
Degree in toxicology, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, public health, and environmental sciences
Several years of experience in toxicology, EHS, product safety, scientific affairs, or regulatory affairs
Knowledgeable in the following areas: Chemical risk assessment; hazard assessment; ecotoxicology; toxicological study monitoring; REACH and REACH-like regulations; TSCA; CDX; IUCLID; Chesar for CSA; SAP EHS module
Proven project management skills and the ability to work with high volumes of projects
Flexible with changes in projects and priorities
Excellent attention to detail, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Excellent written/ verbal/ interpersonal communication skills
