Medical Devices - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Cambridge
Due to successful growth plans, a Medical Devices organisation based in Cambridge are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work on the development of and improvement of life saving Medical Devices.
Collaborating closely with other industry experts, such as electronics design engineers, software engineers, physicists and other Medical Devices experts, you will be working on some of the most complex problems you could imagine in the development of new Medical Technologies.
Ideally, you will have a background in developing new Medical Devices through the whole design life cycle to ISO 13485 standards. If you have not worked on Medical Devices, we will consider other highly regulated industries such as life sciences, robotics, product development etc.
You will mainly be using SolidWorks for the 3D CAD elements of your role so it would be advantageous for you to currently use this, however we are open to other 3D CAD tools if you have a proven track record of learning new skills quickly.
When speaking about complex problem, it would be ideal if the Medical Devices you have worked on have included fluidics, mechanism design, thermal issues, FEA or other complex applications. We are not expecting you to have all of these, they are just a few examples of challenges you'll encounter.
This company is growing but is still at a good size where your work will have an impact of the success of the company and projects. Due to this we are looking for a team player who is used to collaborating with different people from within and outside of the business.
While being continually challenged you will continue to develop your skills to the forefront of the sector, alongside this you will be rewarded with an excellent starting salary, bonus (around 20% most years, higher most recently), BUPA, pension, generous holiday allowance and other excellent benefits.
Salary will be based on experience and due to this we are happy to hear from people with a couple of years of industry experience through to people with over twenty years of experience, it is more important to get the right person rather than a specific number of years of experience.
It is expected that you would hold a degree alongside any industry experience. If you also hold a PhD this would be welcomed but not essential.
Interviews will happen as soon as we have a suitable person, so if you are interested in investigating this role, I'd suggest making an application and sending in your CV. Note, your CV will not be passed over to the company until after we have had a conversation about the role and company.
