SRG is delighted to be partnering with an exciting start-up biotech company based in the Cambridge area. They are currently looking for a highly motivated research associate/scientist to join the protein science teams where you will be contributing to the development of novel TCR Therapeutics. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work in a dynamic environment and rapidly expand their knowledge and skillset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform DNA cloning and prepare DNA constructs for transfections.
  • Express novel TCR formats in HEK293 and CHO cells in small, medium and large scale
  • Perform protein purification and ensure proteins are of high-quality using protein analytical and assay techniques (SDS-PAGE, HPLC-SEC, ELISA)
  • Maintain and establish cell lines required for protein production.
  • Provide high-quality protein material to the downstream protein characterisation team.
  • Support protein team in functional and biophysical characterisation
  • Analyse and present work/data in group meetings and produce accurate scientific reports and SOPs.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate laboratory record of all experimental activities.

Ideal Candidate:

  • An BSc/MSc (or equivalent) in a life-sciences or related subject for the Research Associate level with at least 2 years of industry experience OR a PhD (or equivalent) in a life-sciences or related subject for the Scientist level
  • Significant experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA cloning and protein expression
  • Hands-on experience in protein production in mammalian cells such as protein-based biologics
  • Experience with protein expression in E. coli and troubleshooting difficult expression would be highly desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of the AKTA purification platform and using conventional chromatography resins e.g. ion exchange
  • Good working knowledge of a range of methodologies to characterise proteins.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in antibody or soluble TCR development would be highly desirable.
