- Migration Architect (Workload & Cloud Migrations)
- £500 per day PAYE
- Remote UK (once per month meeting in Telford)
- 3 month contract
- Due to the nature of our client’s business additional checks will be required
Our Client is looking for an experienced Migration Architect who will be responsible for all technical aspects of the client’s workload migration from point A to Point B (includes migration across/within datacentres, server states, user bases, operating systems, HW/SW versions, platforms, workplaces, delivery teams, etc.).
You will provide overall design/engineering direction and support for migration across all towers to ensure the program meets the contractual obligations and operational standards, as well as the client’s business imperatives.
Key Responsibilities are:
- Provides support to Transformation Technical Lead in managing all technical aspects of the migration across all server types, across all towers, to ensure each application and server can be migrated source-to-target successfully, and ensures all Migration Engineers fully understand the technical challenges and solutions of each migration wave
- Ensures Workload Assessment & Migration Engine (WAME) capabilities and best-practices are used to optimize the migration of workload
- Oversees and approves changes to solution should any changes/additions to Source environment be identified that require it
- Manages all work to ensure detailed design documentation and implementation guides are completed and handed over to appropriate T&T, Account and Capability resources
- Works with Migration Design and Capability Design Engineers during technical escalations to resolve issues during the window
- Responsible for technical integration across all the towers
Key requirements for the role are:
- Meets degree educational requirements or has equivalent work experience for job code.
- 12+ years of relevant industry experience with between 3 and 5 years at the Master level with a consistent record of significant contribution level, leadership and impact to the business, the company services technical community, and/or the industry
- Certification in various migration tools (DoubleTake, PlateSpin, etc.) a plus
- Certification in various Server level Operating Systems a plus (Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc.)
Technical Skills and Experiences:
- 10-15+ years’ experience in technical IT (preferably in datacenter)
- 5+ years’ experience related to datacenter migrations
- Able to deal with complex issues involving customers and vendors
- Will have used at least one of these migration tools (DoubleTake, PlateSpin, Zerto, AppZero, FLAR, RSYNC, Robocopy, RACEMI)
Non-technical Skills and Experiences:
- Demonstrates strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong client interfacing skills
- Has strong technical project leadership capabilities involving virtual teams across regions and time zones
- Able to deal with complex issues involving customers and vendors
- Proven ability to work in cross-cultural environments
