Product Development Chemist required, based in Nottinghamshire. Experience and understanding of polymers, coatings, elastomers or materials is beneficial. Industrial experience preferred but not essential.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

SRG is working with a highly successful and globally renowned company who manufacture and innovate polymer materials for a huge range of industries and applications. They are now looking for a new Product Development Chemist to join their busy manufacturing facility in Nottinghamshire. The role will involve supporting the wider R&D team with the development of new polyurethane and elastomer products, including formulation, testing and scale up to manufacturing. This would be a brilliant opportunity for a graduate with a keen interest in or some experience in polymer technology or materials chemistry. Any industrial experience, particularly in development or a manufacturing environment, would be highly advantageous.

Role / Description

  • Developing new polymer materials, formulations and processes to suit new product applications
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of existing products and processes
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and technology partners in support of innovation projects
  • Managing your own projects where appropriate
  • Helping to establish testing programmes for products in specific applications
  • Developing new manufacturing processes for new products
  • Utilising specialist knowledge and expertise to deliver strategic products
  • Collecting and recording information on material properties gained from experimental data
  • Interacting with customers and suppliers to support business development


  • Minimum degree in Chemistry, Product Design, Polymer Chemistry or Materials Science
  • Industrial experience in an industrial environment advantageous, e.g. manufacturing, polymer/materials product development, engineering
  • Keen interest in polymer / materials technology
  • Good organisation and project management skills
  • Effective and adaptable communication skills
