CK Group are recruiting for a Chemical Production Manager to join a chemical manufacturing company at their site based in Reading on a full time, permanent basis.
The Company:
Our client manufactures a range of both organic and inorganic specialty chemicals and exports them worldwide. Their manufacturing site operates on a 100,000kg scale and the company prides themselves on the work they do. They now have a requirement for a Chemical Production Manager who will lead the production team, liaise with the lab, and oversee scale-up amongst other responsibilities. The company offers a salary of circa £35,000-£40,000 depending on experience, as well as 25 days holiday + bank holidays. Hours are 9am-5pm and you will have 11 direct reports in this role. Location:
The Chemical Production Manager will be based at the company's site in Reading.
Your main duties will be to:
- Oversee day to day running of the factory & production whilst managing Factory Shift Supervisors in collaboration with the MD and Technical Manager
- Optimise production by creatively analysing processes, including devising and implementing new processes & technology
- Oversee factory maintenance within budget & given timelines
- Be responsible for ensuring that all Health and Safety measures are carried out appropriately and liaise with HSE and the EA when required
- Administer the scale up from laboratory to industrial sized processes and streamline production
- Research, develop and administer new products from lab to commercialisation
- Execute & close engineering and chemical projects within agreed budgets and deadlines
- Offer technical support to customers
Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
- Degree qualified or equivalent in chemistry or chemical engineering (preferred)
- Industry-based experience of leading production with a chemical manufacturer - essential
- Experience of managing direct reports - essential
- Familiarity with ISO9001 and 14001
- Experience of costing and implementing engineering projects
- Experience of scale up
- 'Can do' attitude and happy with a range of responsibilities
