Laboratory Manager

Berkshire   •  £38000 - £40000 per annum  •  Permanent, Full time

A UKAS-accredited chemical manufacturing business is looking to appoint a laboratory manager into its team in Reading. They are looking for a highly organised individual to manage all laboratory operations, areas including, Analytical, QC, R&D and H&S.

To be considered you should hold a degree in a relevant chemistry-based discipline, have previous laboratory management experience ideally within a chemical manufacturing business and display In-depth knowledge of analytical techniques and methodologies (ICP-AES, ICP-MS, GC, UV-Vis, and wet chemistry) used in the sector and demonstration of their practical application in the analysis of final materials.

Laboratory Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Collecting, receiving, labelling, and/or analysing samples or substances using the correct testing equipment.
  • Designing and executing laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, recording observations, and interpreting findings.
  • Recording all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format (written and/or electronic).
  • Organising and storing all chemical substances and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
  • Ensuring that safety guidelines are always adhered to within the laboratory.
  • Maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment.
  • Ordering laboratory supplies.
  • Providing technical support when necessary.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

Laboratory Manager Requirements:

  • Hold a chemistry, or closely related degree qualification.
  • Strong understanding of the chemical industry with previous laboratory management experience.
  • Strong effective communicator.
  • Highly developed, demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Expert in Microsoft applications and general computer literacy.
  • Ordering laboratory supplies.
  • Providing technical support when necessary.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

Salary: £38, 000 - £40,000
Benefits: 23 Days Holiday + Banks - 5% Company Pension Contribution - Free Parking
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Role: Full-time, Permanent, (On-site)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
