Senior Chemical Engineer

A rapidly expanding spin-out company is recruiting for a Senior Chemical Engineer to join its team in Cambridge. As part of the technical team, you will lead process development, improvement, and optimisation activities - working on innovative projects involving films and coatings.

This role would suit an experienced Process Development Engineer with a strong background in the films or coatings industry - working on R&D implementation and pilot-manufacturing scale.

Senior Chemical Engineer responsibilities

  • Being the technical specialist/project lead on our films and coatings projects
  • Leading process development, improvement and optimisation
  • Implementation of processes from Lab to manufacturing scale
  • Planning and conducting experiments to investigate the effect of processes parameters on final product (at various scales)
  • Liaising with internal and external experts (e.g. consultants and equipment suppliers) to identify best process and equipment
  • Working with external consultants on the scale-up processes

Senior Chemical Engineer requirements

  • Degree level qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or closely related.
  • Experience of R&D implementation and pilot to manufacturing scale
  • Coatings or Films expertise, preferably at pilot and manufacturing scale
  • Experience of developing a process from batch to a continuous mode of operation
  • An experimentalist with strong analytical skills
  • An individual who is open to learn with an inquisitive mindset
  • Leading projects to deliver products to customers
