Pharmaceutical Laboratory Analyst

CK Group are recruiting for a Laboratory Analyst to join a pharmaceutical company based in Sedgefield on a permanent basis.

The Company:
Our client specialise in supporting research, development, manufacture, and licensing of unique and vital pharmaceutical products

The successful candidate will work as part of a growing laboratory team performing analysis of a wide range of pharmaceutical products and medical device products in accordance with GMP.

Salary & Benefits:
Competitive salary depending upon experience.

37.5 hours per week, or a 9-day working fortnight (75 hours compressed into 9 working days)
28 days holiday per year, excluding Statutory Bank and Public holidays.

Job Summary:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified or experienced analyst to join a small, supportive laboratory team working in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Regular analysis will include HPLC, GC, UV, FTIR, rheometry and dissolution testing, in addition to other wet chemistry and basic analytical techniques. Full in-house training will be provided.
  • The job role also offers the opportunity to contribute to analytical method development and validation, and to gain broader experience of manufacturing and quality activities within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Supporting activities to maintain a culture of team working, personal development and continuous improvement will also be integral to the role.
  • All analysis will be carried out following the principles of pharmaceutical GMP.
  • The Analyst will be expected to be familiar with current Health and Safety requirements and to keep abreast of new developments in analytical chemistry.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The candidate must have formal academic training of at least an honours degree standard in chemistry or a related subject (or demonstrated equivalent experience).

  • Should have a basic understanding of some of the analytical techniques commonly used within the pharmaceutical industry (e.g. HPLC, GC, dissolution). Practical experience in any of these techniques gained during university or within the pharmaceutical / chemicals industry would be an advantage.
  • Should be familiar with the concepts of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and how this might be applied within the pharmaceutical industry. Experience working within regulated laboratory would be an advantage.
  • Should be confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications (particularly Word, Excel and Outlook), have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to solve problems.
