Associate Scientist

12 Month Contract

13.46 - 17.95 per hour

Bracknell, UK ( Hybrid or Fully Remote )

Job Purpose

The purpose of an Associate Scientist is to support the identification, evaluation and tracking of opportunities of interest, and maintain accurate records of activity through use of in-house caseload management information systems. Ensure the smooth running and optimization of processes and resources to drive rapid and effective team performance.

Job Content

Record and maintain relevant information detailing new innovations into internal caseload management information systems

Utilize internal databases to provide clear reports and information. These must be updated on a regular basis, to monitor activity, progress against objectives and drive decisions on new scientific areas and strategies

Assist team members with basic legal requests (e.g. non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, fee-for-service agreements)

Foster strong foundations for the continuing expansion of the team, via drafting and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Contribute ideas for new processes and resources which improve the speed and effectiveness of the team

Work with stakeholders across Venture Science, TAs, Functional Areas (FAs), LRL,Legal, Operations, and CBD as necessary to support the identification and progress of deals

Promote transparency through regular contact and information sharing with VS team members

Develop your own personal network to strengthen relationships with key players in the life sciences ecosystem (e.g. academia, biotech, venture capital, incubators, peer pharma, government organisations)

Support team preparation for conferences and partnering meetings, with the opportunity to attend local events

Requirements

B.Sc in a scientific discipline related to the pharmaceutical industry (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, etc)

Strong database and computer skills; detail-orientated and analytical mindset

Talent for analysing and visualising complex unstructured data

Excellent project management and organisational skills

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize quickly, drive to solve problems

Superior English communication skills (written and oral)

Evidence of the strong interpersonal skills required to coordinate with Lilly team members, both face-to-face and remotely

Sufficient maturity and judgement to work on sensitive and often highly confidential projects in full adherence to company policy

Flexible can-do attitude and ability to work effectively in a complex matrix environment

Additional Skills / Preferences

Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical business and drug development process

An awareness of industry trends and new areas of scientific development

Basic programming skills for business-relevant (Microsoft) applications

Experience/proficiency with SharePoint, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint and other MS software tools
