Herbal Quality Technician

CPL Life Sciences are looking for a Herbal Quality Technician to join a busy team. The main responsibility of the Quality Technician is Assuring the quality of the herbs our client purchases by using the best quality standards and right testing methodologies to ensure we provide the best quality herbal products to their customers.

Main Responsibilities

Quality assessment of raw materials their sampling, testing, data input and release

Ensuring there is effective communication on the quality status of raw materials and blends at all times to colleagues and raw material/blend suppliers

Resolving quality issues associated with raw materials by actively engaging with colleagues and raw material partners to ensure a speedy resolution

Generation of data to assess quality performance of raw material suppliers and right first time measures

Updating raw material specifications so they are current, controlled and relevant

Coordinating sensory assessments for routine and new product development

Undertake a range of testing that includes essential oil testing, physical assays, macroscopic and microscopic testing but is not limited to these

Maintenance and calibration of analytical equipment, introduction of new laboratory equipment and the procurement of laboratory consumables

Maintaining hygiene and housekeeping standards for the laboratory

Producing a range of technical documents such as SOPs, specifications, MSDS, COSHH assessments related to herbal quality activities

Keeping records related to the quality assessment of raw materials and blends

Production of certificate of analysis and conformity for raw materials and blends

Management of raw material archive and reference materials

To contribute on a weekly basis to objectives, on-going tasks and problem solving to maintain an uninterrupted supply of quality raw material

Support the herbal quality team in other activities as and when required

Qualifications

Scientific qualification, to degree level or equivalent

Experience of working in a laboratory

Skills & Competences

Ability to prioritise workload effectively

Confidence in communicating at all levels both internally and externally

Excellent written English a concise professional style

Acumen in relating technical data to commercial outcomes

Good knowledge of database systems and IT

Perform efficiently in a commercial environment and work within a business framework to meet service standards and understand the importance of working to deadlines
