Discipline: Metrologist, planning-scheduling, technical support Position Purpose
The Laboratory Support Engineer role offers all activities associated with Metrology: Perform, co-ordinate and provide technical support to ensure that instrument calibration is completed consistently and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Laboratory Support Engineer role also provides support to Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule (PSSM) & Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) to ensure both critical process & laboratory instruments GMP compliance is maintained, and asset lifecycle systems are effective, asset information is kept up-to-date and all documentation is accurate & retrievable when required either by internal staff or external auditors.
Direct report to Maintenance Manager
Provide performance verification, calibration, and qualification services for laboratory equipment.
Generation and administration of the instrument calibration schedule to ensure there is a controlled programme of calibration to meet compliance requirements. Adherence to GMP compliance and safety always with all activities.
Calibration and maintenance of scheduled instrument events, including instruments calibrated and maintained by external suppliers, and those sent away for calibration.
Perform calibration tasks in accordance with associated procedures and regulatory standards.
Understanding how to take metrology measurements and maintain the integrity of the testing that is to be conducted.
Documentation of instrumentation calibrations, i.e. maintenance of logbooks, reviewing and filing of calibration & maintenance reports.
Complete electronic notifications in the EAMS system to confirm completion of calibration work orders. Completion, review, and closure of calibration work orders in EAMS.
Report equipment services or events which are out of regulatory compliance using relevant procedures and modules in the QTS system and provide advice and technical assistance for calibration failure investigations as required including audit support.
Manage and direct the activities of vendors and contract staff.
Supply of test equipment, reviewing and filing of calibration & maintenance reports and completion of associated EAMS work orders and maintenance of the EAMS database instrument list.
Provide advice for the assessment and regulatory categorisation of instruments as required and assistance with equipment lifecycle documentation (validation & change control, instrument identity numbers).
EAMS database operation and administration, with a particular focus on work management, vendor maintenance schedules and processes including updating planned maintenance schedules, processing vendor Field Service Reports, uploading documentation and progressing and reviewing-closing work orders, updating planned maintenance schedules.
Service contracts technical administration including planning and scheduling of visits, liaising with end users for booking contractors on to site, arranging inductions, sending out notifications and supporting vendor GMP assessments.
Monitoring TSA email and logging calls, creating and assigning work requests to relevant queues in EAMS, raising Ariba purchase orders and working to resolve Ariba issues.
