Business Development Lead - Food Science

Remote, Orkney Isles   •  Permanent, Full time

CK Group are recruiting for a New Business Development Lead on behalf of a world leader provider of food science consultancy services on a permanent basis. The role covers a global territory, and you can influence your own travel requirements. This will be a full remote working role, and the successful candidate can be based anywhere in the UK.

Their diverse pipeline of projects varies from creating or validating new products to completing analytical investigations. About the role:
The main purpose of your position will be to drive global new client sales growth within the FMCG sector. You will be accountable for seeking new clients and closing sales opportunities. This role interacts with the wider commercial team and Leadership team supporting the commercial strategic direction. You will be accountable for implementation and delivery of initiatives as appropriate for new clients within specific segments of focus.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Personally seeking out local and global opportunities to meets with objectives within primarily Food Research and Development and Food Safety segments
  • Liaising with technical and laboratory specialists to build client trust and showcase capabilities with the sole purpose of closing sales opportunities
  • Undertaking legal and contractual negotiations with clients
  • Identifying client needs and translate them into profitable business, creating benefits and additional value for clients
  • Developing clients to be advocates of the organisation and to reach partner status, by taking every opportunity to introduce clients to all the services provided and involving personnel from other departments as necessary, to ensure desired customer experience.
  • Using industry knowledge to guide investments in new initiatives. Participating in the Innovation funnel from idea to implementation.
  • Driving strategic Food and Consumer Goods initiatives and evaluations

About you:
To be considered for the position, you should ideally have the following skills and expertise:

  • Qualified to BSc level, or have equivalent experience, in a scientific discipline
  • Experience working in a relevant Business Development position, in the food/beverage or scientific services sector
  • Strong commercial acumen, and drive to achieve financial success
  • A full UK driving licence
