Laboratory Technician

Nottingham, Nottinghamshire NG1 1GF   •  £18K-£22K depending on experience  •  Permanent, Full time

Phenotypeca is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our friendly and supportive team. This role would suit a non-graduate with A'level, BTEC or equivalent qualifications in a science subject and experience within a laboratory environment.

The Role:

As the perfect candidate, you will be strongly motivated to play an integral part in helping us to develop the next generation of yeast bioprocess technology for industrial biologics manufacturing.

Within your role as a Laboratory Technician, you'll be responsible for helping the smooth running of the laboratory, performing tasks such as maintaining stock levels across our BioCity and University sites, arranging testing, maintenance and calibration of equipment, cleaning lab surfaces and glassware.

Based on your experience, training will be given on a number of biological techniques including making and autoclaving base media, pouring plates and preparing different buffers and solutions.

An important element of the role is ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times through the implementation of Phenotypeca procedures and guidelines as well as the preparation and maintenance of EH&S documentation and SOPs.

You will have:

  • A'level, BTEC or similar qualification in a science subject.
  • Experience working within a laboratory environment and performing general lab maintenance duties.
  • Excellent team-working and communication skills.
  • Effective time-management skills and the ability to work to deadlines.

This role will be based in BioCity Nottingham.

Normal Working Hours: 7.5hrs per day between 8 am and 6 pm Monday to Friday*.
