Laboratory Manager

12 month contract
25 per hour PAYE
We are currently working with a global leading pharmaceutical company in Cambridge who are recruiting for a Laboratory Manager on a 12 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company where delivering life changing medicines to patients across the world is at the heart of everything they do.
Key responsibilities;
- Organise Pipette Calibrations and repairs including decontamination (every 6 months)
- CapEx (e.g. acquiring quotes, support relevant paperwork, liaising with lab manager & users regarding equipment moves)
- Attend Lab Rep Meetings and communicate key information to lab users
- Organization and communication of the Cleaning Rota to the lab users
- Organizing general lab cleaning
- Decontaminating Equipment for engineer visits
- Organizing engineer visits for routine tests (e.g. LEV test for hoods every 6 months) or unexpected failures
- Implement waste streams (constantly evolving to match the requirements for the DISC)
- Blood Lab Stocks/Shortages communication to scientists and co-ordination with lab support staff
- Help with DISC moving (e.g. attending regular weekly meeting, logging equipment)
- Risk Assessments (RAs) (all relevant paperwork)
- Empty tip boxes for recycling (CL1/CL2 labs)
- Organize and defrost -80 and -20 freezers
- Allocate RT/fridge/freezer space for new comers
- Carry the department credit card to enable quick purchases for the items required for the lab
- Point of contact for every request made by scientists
- Point of contact for every problem that occurs in the lab
- Point of contact for out of hours emergency equipment breakdowns
- SHE Rep (e.g. attending meetings, communicating to lab users SHE decisions and vice versa communicating possible issues raised by lab users to SHE)
- HBS Rep
- Meetings with GPLT and RSG, representing the group, coordinating trainings etc.
Experience/ qualifications;
- Minimum life-science based degree, masters in a relevant subject area (e.g. biology, immunology) desirable but not essential
- Hands-on laboratory work experience, within a research, academia, contract testing, or biopharmaceutical setting, ideally 10 years experience
- Previous experience within management (desired)
