Process Engineer

Canada   •  US$60000 - US$70000 per annum + + Benefits  •  Permanent, Full time


A growing renewable energy company has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join its team. Working in a small yet agile team, your role will be to develop ways to optimize plant efficiencies. To be considered you must be educated to BSc or above in chemical or process engineering and have previous experience in a process engineering role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the internal team and external customers at all levels to maximize plant operational efficiency gains
  • Develop ways to optimize plant efficiencies
  • Gather and analyze plant data
  • Analyze PFD, P&IDs, and Mass & Energy Balances
  • Create data collection lists, BFDs, PFDs, equipment specifications
  • Create simulation models that replicate existing operations at industrial facilities
  • Create simulation models for new systems and designs
  • Develop heat integration strategies using pinch analysis and other techniques
  • Assist in the development and execution of projects
  • Develop technical proposals for improvements and additions to plants
  • Research new technology to improve processes at the plant including patent review
  • Responsible for the implementation of solutions along with other vendor packages for individual clients
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Other related duties as assigned

Experience Required:

  • University education in Chemical Engineering or a similar discipline
  • Significant experience in a process engineering role
  • Expertise in process simulation software (VMG-Symmetry, Aspen, Chemcad)
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and manipulate the various plant aspects and the implications of actions on production output and quality
  • Demonstrated ability to translate hands-on plant operation experiences into creative solutions for customers

What will make you stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience with distillation, evaporation, dehydration, fermentation, liquefaction, RTOs, and drying is preferred
  • Knowledge of biofuels and membrane experience is a plus
  • Experience with oil and gas downstream processes, hydrotreating, methane steam reforming is an asset

  • P.Eng. (required)
