Job Title: Cell culture Scientist
Location: Newcastle
Employment Term: Permanent
Salary: £22,000 - £28,000
Benefits: 35 Hr week and flexible time available
SRG are working with a rapidly expanding biotechnology company focusing on providing high quality immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridisation to the market. The company has a real focus on culture and providing opportunities to develop and grow dependant on the personal goals of the employees.
The role
Tissue Culture
* Growing tumour and primary cells
* Provision of cultured cells according to the production plan.
* Maintaining the tissue culture suites/laboratory and associated equipment
* Purchasing and stock-keeping of reagents and consumables
* (With) assistance, the maintenance of a costed model of service delivery.
General laboratory support
* Aliquoting of reagents - foetal calf serum, Pen/strep etc
* Equipment validation
* Day to day laboratory maintenance and laboratory COSHH/risk assessments as necessary
* Removal of laboratory clinical waste
* Processing and embedding samples
Production
* Completion of product including:
o Constructing cell microarrays
o Cutting sections
o Packing and labelling product
o Managing pre-product stock levels
Requirements
Essential:
* Tissue culture experience and exemplary aseptic technique.
* Previous experience of working in teams
* Problem solving and solution focused thinking
* Agile working, being able to adapt to change
Desirable:
* Experience working in a controlled environment, preferably to ISO 13485 standard
