R&D Formulation Chemist

Kent   •  £25000 - £30000 per annum  •  Permanent, Full time

We are working with an innovative sustainable materials organisation who are looking to appoint a development chemist into its technical team at its new facility in Kent. You will work closely with the CEO, supporting and eventually leading the development of its one-of-a-kind, plastic free coating technology.

To be successful you should hold a Chemistry degree or PhD, possess a forward-thinking mentality with drive, and passion towards sustainability. If you have previous experience as a development chemist within another industry this would be highly advantageous.

The Role:

As a Development Chemist you will be responsible for autonomously carrying out various R&D projects, formulating and characterising a variety of coatings to the required standards. You will also be responsible for the scale up formulation for pilot trials and production batches, and liaison with our production partners. All documentation, data and associated evidence would be produced to support the external testing authorities and commercial teams in the quest for transparency with new customers.

Development Chemist Responsibilities:

  • Assist in formulation and development of new products/coatings.
  • Source, test and approve raw materials for new and existing products.
  • Innovate and development of new products.
  • Investigate customer problems, quality concerns and complaints.
  • Perform testing on competitive samples.
  • Prepare samples for customers.
  • Troubleshooting any issues arising during the manufacturing process

Development Chemist Requirements:

  • Minimum of a degree in chemistry is required.
  • Be self-motivated, well organised, able to work as part of a team and are committed to the company.
  • Possess a forward-thinking mentality with drive, and passion towards sustainability.
  • Able to manage and progress projects.
  • The ability to guide the company in terms of innovation and suggestions to move the company forward.
  • Willingness to travel within the EU when required (For 1 week per-month.)

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000
