Senior Research Scientist - Process Development

Cambridgeshire   •  £40000 - £50000 per annum  •  Permanent, Full time


We are currently looking for a Senior Research Scientist within Process Development to join an exciting biotherapeutic company, in the pre-clinical development team, in the Cambridge area. As the Senior Research Scientist you will be leading the company's process development team; and liaising with research microbiologists to understand the physiological requirements of novel gut bacteria.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Senior Research Scientist - Process Development will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

You will be leading the process development team in to the pre-clinical stages of the company's research and work with different members of the team to establish the company's lyophilisation capabilities which includes processes and analytics.

You will be developing formulations and lyophilisation cycles for the freeze-drying of live bacteria-based drugs, for transferring to GMP manufacturing organisations. You will also be critically reviewing and summarising internally and externally generated data for dissemination within the group.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Research Scientist - Process Development we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD and 2+ years of academia/industry experience with anaerobic bacteria

2. Experience in stability testing to support GMP manufacturing

3. A working knowledge and practical experience in scaling freeze-drying processes for pharmaceutical manufacture for early phase clinical trials.
