Job Summary

To perform quality control activities in support of the manufacturing process. Perform analytical testing of external samples, and issue Certificates of Analysis. Ensure that the laboratory activities carried out are accurate, safe and within planned schedules.

Qualification and skills

  • Good spoken and written English is required.
  • At least graduate level in Chemistry, or a related field. Relevant industrial experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent understanding of inorganic chemistry.
  • Experience using ICP-OES or ion chromatography is desirable.
  • Good communication skills are required.
  • Good computer skills are required. Daily use of spreadsheets, word processors, email, and computer managed laboratory equipment.
  • Experience of working in teams whilst working to strict safety and quality standards.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, well organised and possessing excellent problem-solving skills.

Duties:

  • Carry out quality control and analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products in support of the manufacturing process.
  • Actively contribute to research & development activities, in support of new chemical processes.
  • Perform analytical testing of external samples, review results and release related certificates.
  • Assist with the preparation and issue of general certificates of analysis as required.
  • Assist with administration tasks: purchasing, documentation management and external sample testing.
  • Perform calibration activities on laboratory equipment as required.
  • Assist with environment management tasks: sampling, testing and data monitoring.
  • Ensure that activities carried out are documented accordingly to ensure high quality standards and traceability.
  • Assist with all health, safety and environmental practices ensuring that a proactive approach to Health and Safety is brought to the laboratory area.
  • Liaise with the manufacturing team to ensure products are tested and released in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the preparation of samples for analysis at external laboratories and monitoring of results.
  • Carry out laboratory housekeeping and assist with the continuous improvement of quality systems in the laboratory.
  • Ensure that equipment is calibrated and maintained to the required standards.
  • Assist with laboratory documentation with a view to continuous improvement of quality and documentation workflow.
