Scientific R&D Lead - Biology - Cambridge

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced R&D scientist to join an up-and-coming biotech company in Cambridge.

As the Scientific R&D Lead you will be utilising your molecular biology or biochemistry background to deliver technical programmes, from lab testing through to field deployment. This will include working closely with the head of department and leading a team of engineers, physicists, surface chemists and software engineers.

You will be providing both technical and programme leadership, setting the direction of future strategies and research and development streams.

Almost all the work you will be undertaking will be experimental meaning that you could make a real difference in the role, working on highly complex scientific solutions and how they interact with engineering.

To be considered for this scientific leadership role you will need to have prior technical leadership experience in an industrial setting. This experience will need to be from a molecular biology, biophysics, or biochemistry background. Any exposure to nucleic acids and programming in python would be extremely beneficial.

We find the main reason scientists want to join this company is the complexity of the technology the company are developing. This is aiming for a clear step-change in the sector and as such is pushing the boundaries of invention and innovation. They are also offering highly competitive salaries and packages including share options.
