SRG are working with a highly successful company who are recognised as the global benchmark for quality and integrity, with sites across the world that do contract testing for a wide range of industries. They have had large expansion in their Oil Conditions lab and thus need a Shift Laboratory Technician to join their very busy team to perform analytical testing of their growing number of oil samples according to industry standards. It's a fast-paced, high-pressured environment where every technician is vital for the successful flow of their processes. You will be generating data performing a range of techniques such as Karl Fischer, ICP, and viscosity and will need to keep meticulous records of that data, perform diagnostics, report writing - all while ensuring that you support the smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory. You thus need to have analytical reasoning, be a team player, communicate well, listen to instruction, and have an excellent work ethic.

Benefits: On-the-job training on all their equipment, with additional manufacturer training. It will be on a shift basis of 2 X 12 hour days, followed by 2 X 12 hour nights, then 6 days off with 154 pre-paid hours. There is flexibility to swap shifts if needed. You can accrue 3 service days (days off) per annum. Discretionary annual performance bonus, private healthcare, and generous pension scheme.

Role/Description

  • Sample analysis in compliance with the client or company specified test methods ensuring diagnostics are performed and/ or results are reported
  • Accurately entering laboratory test data in relevant software systems
  • Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Prompt reporting of equipment failures
  • Taking responsibility for any gaps in your knowledge and getting the appropriate training, so as to be a fully affective member of the team
  • Prompt reporting of near misses and other NCR's/CAPRs/NIRs
  • Strict adherence to health and safety procedures

Requirements

  • GCSE/ ONC in maths, chemistry (or science subject), and English essential
  • 1 year or more Industrial laboratory experience, in a fast-paced, high pressure commercial lab essential
  • Numerical and English speaking skills essential
  • Effective interpersonal skills (communication, team-player, active listening, etc)
  • Good organisational, time/task-management, attention to detail, ability to learn, adaptability and work ethic
  • Computer literate (e.g. Microsoft Windows, Internet explorer, LIMS systems, etc) is a must
  • Some experience using test methods such as Viscosity, Karl Fischer, ICP, FTIR etc desirable but not essential
