QC Technician

QC Technician required, based in Wigan. A Level in Chemistry required as a minimum. Previous experience in QC, production or quality inspection essential. Good working maths skills needed.

SRG is working with a long-standing and successful company who manufacture speciality materials and components. With a brand-new production line about to be unveiled, the Quality team are now looking for a new QC Technician to support manufacturing with sampling and testing of raw materials and finished products. This will involve working alongside the production team, conducting in-the-moment testing and approving product release or placing materials on hold as needed. It would be well-suited to an individual with a background in an industrial manufacturing environment, who has experience in laboratory testing or on-line sampling and inspection.

Role/Description

  • Working closely with production, taking samples of in-process and finished products to assess against specification limits.
  • Sampling and testing raw materials from incoming tankers to approve or reject material
  • Some laboratory-based testing - including calorimetry, spectrophotometry, tensile strength and aging studies
  • Collecting and recording test data accurately
  • Performing basic calculations relating to fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, area, circumference and volume
  • Placing a hold on production when material is out of specification
  • Calibrating lab equipment
  • Participating in investigations of non-conformance, corrective action implementation, internal audits

Requirements

  • Educated to minimum A Level or BTEC Level 3 in Chemistry or Applied Science
  • Hands-on laboratory, QC or quality inspection experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Good maths skills - including fractions, percentages, ratios
  • Flexible to undertake shift work in future, including night shifts
  • Forklift truck licence and/or Internal Auditing experience advantageous but not essential
