Chemical Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Chemical Engineer or PHD Graduate to join their company based in Waterford Ireland.

The role requires an energetic and innovative type candidate who is ambitious about climate change action and understands the significance of global warming and the critical role that will play in mitigating same. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in a start-up environment. Our client is offering an attractive package along with relocation if moving from the UK to Ireland along with a performance related bonus and share options.

The Chemical Engineer or PHD Graduate will be supported by the Chief Technical Officer and will be responsible for:

Aiding in the design and procurement of the component parts of the prototype Temperature Vacuum Swing Adsorption (TVSA) Unit;

Testing & optimising the TVSA process in the laboratory;

Aiding in the scale up of the TVSA units from laboratory to full scale adsorber modules;

Producing relevant safety and operational documentation for the modules;

Advising on recommended commissioning and operating parameters as well as engagement with stakeholders including potential Customers and Suppliers.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

The position would suit a Chemical Engineering / PHD Graduate with some industrial experience, or a combination of industry & academic post graduate experience. The candidate should be able to demonstrate that they hold the following knowledge and skills:

Possess advanced knowledge of gas phase adsorption/desorption processes on/from porous solids;

Possess experience in handling and testing of porous solids for gas phase processes;

Possess practical experience in the design and assembly of the component parts of an adsorption (or similar) unit;

Preferably possess skills and experience in modelling adsorption/desorption processes;

Demonstrate the motivation and ability to solve challenging design problems under tight time constraints;

Have the flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment;

Self-disciplined and result orientated;

High level of interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
