Senior Scientist/ Data Architect

Full-time, Remote or Office-based (East Coast, US)

We are excited to be partnered with a global pharmaceutical company that are currently expanding their Computational Biology capabilities in the East Coast of the United States. As part of this growth, a new position has been created for a Senior Scientist / Data Architect to support the growth of the department and work within a talented global team of Computational Biologists.

Duties & Responsibilities:

*Support development and drive implementation of data management and governance strategy to ensure long-term value of data assets, according to FAIR principles.
*Drive and enforce cross-functional linking of data concepts, vocabularies, taxonomies to enable seamless connection of data from selected and key scientific domains.
*Support implementation of a data foundation (infrastructure & content) together with IT teams and business subject matter experts and data stewards.
*Contribute to data ontologies and metadata harmonization, enabling data for down-stream processes.
*Coordinate data stewardship activities to support adherence to overarching data governance guidelines and principles
*Ensure data assets adhere to regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA. Other country regulations will need to be checked and adhered to.
*Ensure long-term usability of data assets, according to FAIR principles. Ensure interoperability between internal and external data. Drive change towards a data-centric way of working.


*PhD in biology, chemistry, pharmacy, bioinformatics, information science or a related field with experience in data management and analysis, or MS or BS in these fields with post-degree experience and relevant industry experience within computational biology.
*In-depth understanding of data domains that are relevant for pre-clinical and clinical drug discovery and development.
*Basic understanding of further data domains such as real-world evidence.
*Familiarity with IT infrastructure concepts like data lake, graph data bases, cloud storage & computing.
*Profound understanding of data integration and management concepts such as semantic data integration, ontology management, FAIR principles.
*Project leadership skills.
*Strong communication and moderation skills.
*Fluent English (written and spoken).
