Chemosensory Technician

Hampshire   •  £27000 - £35000 per annum  •  Contract/Temporary, Full time


Title: Chemosensory Analyst Duration: 6 month initial contract Location: Southampton Pay: up to £35000k This is an exciting brand new position where you will be planning, organising and executing GC-Olfactometry analyses including laboratory and panel work. As well as managing and maintaining the incentives for panellists. The job holder has no direct reports.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Plans, organises and conducts chemosensory analyses, in particular GC-Olfactometry Aroma Extract Dilution Analysis, ensuring that a clear briefing is articulated
  • Develops and tests new working procedures/methods in line with project requirements, compiling study plans, writing SOPs and ensuring all documentation is aligned to business practices
  • Preparation of samples for chemosensory evaluation including those for the GC-Olfactometry panel, collection of analytical and sensory data, analysis and reporting
  • Prepares and organises all laboratory tasks in an efficient and orderly way to ensure smooth running within the Chemosensory lab
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant SOP's, working practices and requirements.

You will have:

  • BSc or Masters, or with equivalent experience, preferably in food chemistry or life sciences
  • Experience of working within a laboratory
  • Experience with GC-Olfactometry, GC-MS
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook calendar management
