Tax Business Process Analyst

An opportunity has arisen for a Tax Business analyst to work for a Global Pharmaceutical company.

The Tax Business Analyst supports the automated tax and compliance process solutions implemented as part of the EMEA Apple program release for 28 countries as part of the GBS Operational Services and Quality Management team. The scope includes: VAT, EC Sales List, Intrastat and withholding tax related processes.

Location: Surrey- Highly flexible with working from home

Rate: 400 - 478

Duration: 6 months

Role Summary:

Follow tax and regulation changes, identify and document any related business requirements, define process and system impacts

Initiate and coordinate projects to deliver the required system changes

Analyse reported issues, conduct root cause analysis for defects and system errors, work with technical teams to define defect resolution

Conduct testing of system solution and coordinate with business testers, if required

Document process changes and arrange the update to all relevant process documentation

Assess the change management needs and work with change team to manage all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external

Support the GBS activities across all process towers (MDM, PTP, OTC, RTR) to ensure timely and consistent delivery of compliance related services

Act as Single Point of Contact for tax and compliance related questions within GBS

Support GBS delivery teams with resolving tax and compliance related issues

Conduct sample audit of outputs to ensure compliance requirements are met (invoices, reports, financial postings)

Address errors identified via the sample audit, either with additional training or via the defect resolution process depending on the root cause

Propose service level and key metrics targets for GBS tax and compliance services

Propose interventions and work with the respective GBS teams to improve performance if required

Prepare and maintain process documentation, framework and guidance documents

Maintain training materials and conduct tax and compliance process trainings to GBS and business users, document training requirements by roles and positions

Document tax and compliance process related system access requirements by roles and positions, support access requests and related queries for GBS and business users

Initiate process improvements and work with the respective GBS and business teams to implement the improvements

Experience Required:

Multiple number of years of accounting or finance experience within EMEA preferably in a centralized support function

Good understanding of VAT, EC Sales, Intrastat and withholding tax regulations

Knowledge of relevant business processes across PTP, OTC and RTR

Knowledge of relevant SAP/GTS/ACR functionality

Knowledge of Thomson Reuters One Source functionality

Deep knowledge of various taxation & regulatory requirements (especially EMEA region)

Proven experience in complex process improvements and project delivery, formal qualification is an advantage

Proven experience in managing changes to financial systems, SAP is preferable

Knowledge of process improvement methodology, formal qualification is preferable

Pharmaceutical industry experience is an advantage

Shared services experience and/or working with outsourced service provider is an advantage
