Health, Safety and Environment Manager

CK Group are recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join an environmental and hazardous waste management company at their site based in Ilkeston on a full time, permanent basis.

The Company:
Our client is a provider of chemical waste treatment, disposal and recycling services. The site accepts and treats a range of commercial and industrial wastes, using conventional waste treatment techniques. This role will involve some travel between the company\'s 3 UK sites and all of them operate under the conditions of an Environmental Permit issued by the Environment Agency. The role of HSE Manager reports directly to the Technical Director and has responsibility for compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation, company procedures and permits at the site. The company offers a salary in the region of £40-45,000pa, which will depend on experience for the skills required below.

Location:
The HSE Manager role is based at the company\'s site in Ilkeston, easily commutable from Nottingham, Derby and surrounding areas by road.

SHE Manager Role:
Your main duties will be:
-To work closely with the operations team to ensure that all staff receive the correct level of training and are competent to carry out their duties
-Promote Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives through strong leadership
-Responsible for ensuring that all relevant H&S documentation such as Permit to Work, Risk Assessments and Method Statements are in place
-Monitoring and implementing KPI?s and conducting regular site audits
-Investigate all accidents/ incidents/ near-misses, identify root causes and propose remedial actions
-Liaise with key stakeholders including senior management and regulatory authorities

Your Background:
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
-NEBOSH General Certificate required as a minimum, with a NEBOSH Diploma being preferred.
-Previous experience of ISO45001, 14001 and 9001 Management Systems.
-A complete understanding of the relevant regulatory requirements and best practice guidance.
-Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
-An enthusiastic and positive approach to health and safety.
-Experience with the Environmental Permitting regime is advantageous.
-Previous experience working within the Waste Management, Chemical or Heavy Industry Sectors is desirable.
