CK Group is recruiting for a R&D Team Leader to join an adhesives manufacturing company based in Staffordshire, on a full time, permanent basis. This role is offering a salary of around £35,000 but may be negotiable.
Responsibilities of this R&D Team Leader will include:
? To deliver clearly defined New Product Development (NPD) & Product Maintenance (PM) projects within agreed timescales.
? To provide project led technical support to improve manufacturing processes and scale up new formulations.
? To develop strategic partnerships, focussed on technical development, with key raw material suppliers.
? To continually acquire and transfer knowledge with regard to novel polymers and chemicals, technologies and testing methods
? To identify and explore potential new product or market opportunities.
? To direct LEAP (cost saving) project activities within the area of responsibility
? To provide project led technical support to customers by means of visits, the provision of testing, technical presentations and product literature.
? To represent company at relevant industry associations to develop knowledge and understanding of future changes to legislation, standards and industry trends. Communication of these changes to the business team to allow the formulation of a response, where appropriate.
? To continually develop the team to meet identified skill and competence requirements, through appropriate on the job and external training.
? To write technical reports.
? To maintain formulation and costing databases.
? To be aware of, and keep up to date with, health and safety issues in all aspects of the work undertaken and ensure health and safety policies are respected.
? To ensure use of company R&D processes and IT tools e.g. Stage-gate, Clarity, TEAMs, SAP etc
? To ensure all New Product Development and Product maintenance projects are completed on schedule
As a R&D Team Leader you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
A minimum of a degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related subject.
Experience in formulating adhesives would be preferable and in particular experience of formulating cementitious products would be a significant advantage.
The job holder will be a self-starter, able to work on own initiative and to manage a small team of chemists and technicians.
The job holder must be flexible, able to plan and organise the workload to meet deadlines and hit targets.
The job holder must be confident and comfortable in interacting with staff at all levels. The role requires IT skills.
