CK Group are recruiting for a Shift Site Chemist to join a hazardous waste management company based near Liverpool, on a full time, permanent basis. Please note that this is a shift role working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
The company offers a salary in the region of £21,500 - £25,000 depending on experience, as well as shift allowance and a quarterly bonus. This role reports into the Transfer Station Manager and the shift hours will be 6am-3pm and 11am-8pm, rotating on a weekly basis. Please note that this role will be working in the outdoors regardless of weather conditions; it is not a lab based position. The work involved in the safe operation of the site, will require the chemist to perform a number of manual duties, outdoors and in various weather conditions. Operation of mobile and fixed plant will also be a requirement for which training is provided. This role is with a global company offering opportunities for progression in the future. It would suit a chemistry graduate or someone with experience or knowledge of the environmental and waste management sectors.
The Shift Site Chemist will be based at the company\'s site near Liverpool. Please note the ability to drive with own transport is preferred in order to reach site, although it is accessible by bus from some local areas.
Your main duties will be:
? To carry out inspection, analysis and routing for incoming wastes.
? Arrange and prepare waste for outgoing loads ensuring all loads meet all required legislation.
? To provide ?hands on? assistance on site wherever necessary.
? To ensure stock is managed and stored in accordance with legislation, guidance and local procedures.
? To liaise with customer service and technical assessment departments to resolve issues such as non-conformance.
? To forge and maintain effective working relationships with sales colleagues to maximize turnover and profitability.
? To ensure relevant records are maintained and adherence to systems and procedures.
? To provide cover for waste transfer station manager during periods of annual leave, sickness or as required by business needs.
? To assist in maintenance tasks where necessary.
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
- Educated to a minimum of HNC standard or equivalent in chemistry - essential requirement.
- Educated to Degree standard in chemistry preferred.
- Prior experience working in a similar role in the hazardous waste industry and handling hazardous wastes - preferred
- Familiarity with being in the outdoors - advantageous, e.g. dog owner/ hill walker etc.
- Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required
- SAP is a desirable skill but training will be provided if required
- Ability to drive with own transport - preferred
