Business Development Manager

Location: Homebased

Salary: £competitive plus good bonus & bens

Working for an organisation with a reputation for innovation and development across drug discovery and providing vital CRO services to the Life Sciences communities across the UK and further afield. They provide unique scientific capabilities and supporting UK plc to drive the development and industrialisation of new approaches for discovery and development. This exciting role will be part of a high-achieving commercial team focused on delivering innovation to customers in support of discovering tomorrow’s medicines and delivering creative development solutions.

Purpose of the role:

An exciting, national role for an experienced Business Developer and technical drug discovery scientist to support in the development of relationships with Pharma/Biotech’s across the UK and further afield. This role will suit a highly-motivated individual with a proven track-record selling to and consult with Life Sciences organisation and an individual who is collaborative minded, deadline driven and innovation focused. The successful candidate(s) will be joining a high profile organisation and will be given a fantastic platform to add real value to stakeholders as well as an opportunity to enhance your career.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • Seek and develop collaborative opportunities to do business across Pharma, Biotech and Academia
  • Promote core capabilities and lead BD based on targeted research with potential partners
  • Assist in the development of BD strategies to grow and maximise commercial ventures and work with marketing to help realise these strategies
  • Active engagement with SME’s to create new opportunities for collaboration
  • Be highly knowledgeable across the science to be able to spot emerging trends & opportunities in R&D
  • Understand opportunities for grants and funding to help support investment and innovation

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualified in a relevant life science discipline, higher qualifications would be preferred but not essential
  • Several years proven experience within a Business Develop/Sales or commercially focused technical role within the Life Science sector
  • Additional commercial qualifications such as an MBA would be advantageous
  • Hands-on experience in drug discovery (industry/academia) would be highly advantageous and particular experience with translation science would be beneficial
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience of writing reports/document production, ideally for grants/funding purposes, and knowledge of the application process
  • A strong project manager who is able to work across multi-disciplinary teams (internally/externally) to drive projects
