Senior Scientist - Cell Biology

Oxfordshire   •  £35000 - £45000 per annum  •  Permanent, Full time


My client are an exciting biotech with a very unique ground breaking technology within the therapeutics space. They are based in Oxfordshire and have new state of the art offices and labs which they are currently recruiting for.
They are looking for a Senior Scientist to join their Cell Biology team to support in the development and building of an early pipeline of therapeutic candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

* You will be responsible for the design, development and conduct of experiments in support of research objectives
* You will have the opportunity to develop and implement in-vitro immunological assays with the purpose of the interrogation T cell specificities and functional status
* As part of this role you will be required to supervise and train more junior scientist.
* Influence group and project meetings, offering leadership, insights and expertise to advance research projects
* Maintain and implement good laboratory practices, including accurate laboratory notebook systems, instrument and reagent maintenance, and personnel safety precautions

To be successful you will need

* PhD in Cellular Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, or a related discipline (or equivalent training and experience) and three years' experience in biotech/pharma industry (or equivalent)
* In depth experience of cell culture
* Experience of PBMC isolation and primary cell culture (primary T cell culture experience desirable)
* Experience of multi-parameter flow cytometry including panel development and troubleshooting
* Experience of cell sorting desirable
* Experience in developing and using multiple immune cell assays
* Enjoy working towards challenging goals in a fast-moving environment
* Ability to follow and write protocols and SOPs
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
