Dispensary Assistant

London   •  £20000 - £21000 per annum  •  Permanent, Full time

A manufacturer of pharmaceutical products requires an experienced Dispensary Assistant to join its Pharmacy team. Your role will be to coordinate & manage end to end the receipt, processing and dispatch of prescriptions for controlled drugs. To be considered you must have previous experience of working in a pharmacy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Receiving prescriptions e.g. via email; log, and dispense
  • Maintaining sufficient stock levels in the dispensary, including stock transfers
  • Setting up of new product codes
  • Maintaining/producing management reports on prescription activity
  • Maintaining process protocols
  • Monitoring shelf life of stock held on site
  • Carrying out administrative tasks relating to Import/Export of CBM's
  • Directing requests and unresolved issues to the designated person
  • Keeping records of customer interactions and transactions
  • Recording details of enquiries, comments and complaints and actions taken
  • Communicating and co-coordinating with internal departments
  • Keep lead times as short as possible from receipt of order to dispatch
  • Responding to patient queries within the hour
  • All orders have been acknowledged within an hour of receipt
  • All delivery dates have been confirmed back within an hour of confirmation of order
  • Monitoring orders on a daily basis and contacting the customer before they contact us.
  • All orders received up until 4pm need to be processed for dispatch on the same day.

Experience needed

  • Minimum 2 years' experience of working in a pharmacy
  • Experience of interacting with patients and working as a member of a team
  • Experience of managing self in a proactive way

Knowledge, education and technical skills

  • NVQ 3 Pharmacy Dispensing
  • ACT qualification - desirable
  • GCSE or equivalent level
  • Numerate (GCSE or equivalent level maths)
  • IT literate
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Experience of using SAP would be an advantage
  • Accurate keyboards skills
  • Logical approach
  • Organised person who is able to prioritise their workload

Hours: 9.00am-6.00pm, Monday-Friday (could also consider the working hours of 10am-7pm)
