Microbiology Analyst

CK Science is recruiting for a Microbiology Laboratory Analyst on behalf of a multinational provider of laboratory services, to be based in their facilities in Aberdeen on a permanent basis.

The Microbiology Laboratory Analyst will independently carry out analytical tasks and equipment calibrations following agreed methodologies and act as signatory for reporting requirements. They will lead by example, ensuring all aspects of the QHSE processes are followed and will mentor junior team members through effective guidance, training and technical support.

Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out the testing activities
- Assisting the Supervisor to prioritise the daily activities of the team efficiently and effectively in accordance with both approved technical standards and client requirements
- Act as a role model and mentor junior staff to ensure technical requirements and service line performance are always delivered to customer expectations and company Quality standards
- Provide training to junior staff in routine and new analytical techniques
- Test reporting and acting as a report signatory where authorised, ensuring any billing details are correct
- Equipment maintenance and calibration
- Assist in creating quotations and manage client POs
- Communicating as needed with clients and professional/technical bodies
- Supporting projects, method development and validation work
- Carrying out document review and updates for relevant procedures and forms
- Delivering high standards of customer service, seeking continuous improvement in a drive for excellence

To be considered for the position, you should ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Degree in Microbiology or Biosciences (or equivalent) or at least 3 years\' experience working in a Microbiology laboratory
- At least three years\' experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory
- Previous line management / supervisory experience is preferred
- Proficient in IT software such as MS Office and data entry/recording
- Willing to be ?hands on? working at all levels
- Can demonstrate exception organisational skills to ensure priorities are met and the ability to plan and organize day-to-day workload with minimal supervision
- Good time management and an ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- A positive attitude, the ability to develop and initiate new procedures, a high tolerance for job pressure and the ability for working and communicating to diverse personalities
- Flexible approach to working hours
