Embedded in our growing Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences Unit our ambition is to shape the future drug portfolio by acting on novel biological insights generated from the application of state-of-the-art in silico methods to human disease data.
To achieve this, we plan to build a new data science group that can unleash the transformational value of healthcare data, biomarkers and advanced analytics. With the ultimate goal to transform how we discover and develop new medicines
Tasks and Responsibilities:
*You lead a team of 5-10 data stewards and data scientists tasked with the development, execution and implementation of our data-driven innovation strategy ensuring long-term value of data assets according to FAIR principles.
*Your team will be involved in the implementation of a data foundation (infrastructure & content) in close collaboration with IT-teams and business subject matter experts.
*Together with your team you internalize trends in data science and develop strategies to ensure the identification of transformative use cases for advanced data management and analytics / machine learning within our Department and across other functions.
*In order to define, curate, integrate and analyze data into and from an IT data foundation, you develop workflow strategies to enable your team to engage with external owners of large healthcare datasets.
*You guide your team to develop strategies to collaborate not only with internal experts such as UX architects and data engineers but also with external partners to ensure the implementation and deployment of scalable data solutions.
*Together with your team, you enable and develop workflow strategies for data integration and access for down-stream processes and data analytics.
*PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, system biology research, mathematics, statistics or a related field with longtime professional expertise. Experience as Post Doc would be of advantage.
*Several years of relevant experience in multidisciplinary pharma R&D data management as well as in biology related research including the leadership of digital projects with domain expertise in disease therapy areas
*Profound understanding of data integration and management concepts such as semantic data integration, data modelling (e.g. with ontologies and taxonomies), knowledge graphs & FAIR principles.
*In depth understanding of big data ecosystems (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Hive), data warehouses and graph data bases, cloud storage and computing (e.g. AWS / Azure).
*In depth understanding of Semantic Web technologies (e.g. RDF, SPARQL, OWL, SKOS) with a proven track record of the ingesting and cleansing of data from multiple large external datasets.
*Extensive knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistics including high performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts.
