Data Sourcing Lead - Berkshire!

I am currently working with a global bio-pharmaceutical company focused on creating value for people living with severe diseases in immunology and neurology.

We have been tasked with growing their Data & Translational Sciences Team, based in Berkshire. The client is now looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Data Sourcing Lead.

Role overview

Data is central to the aspirations of any data science team; in this role you will bring your understanding of the opportunities in this space to support their analytical community through acquiring suitable data resources that meet the standards appropriate to generating true value. You will identify opportunities to drive the acquisition of scientifically relevant, high-quality, analytics-ready data, enabling the community to access valuable data sources and derive critical drug development, clinical and real-world patient insights. You will be skilled in navigating the operational, organisational, legal/regulatory, technical hurdles and you will be creative in sourcing appropriate data from environments as diverse as commercial vendors, public/private partnerships, healthcare institutions and through collaborative research agreements.

Primary responsibilities

*Build a data landscape - discovery of external and internal data assets and provide harmonised interface for stakeholders across the company.

*Identify, share and lead the sourcing of externally available data corpuses required in support of R&D projects or for the execution of specific R&D objectives.

*Initiate and maintain harmonised process to access data from large publicly available repositories (such as dbGaP). As the principal investigator for these data sources, you will guarantee scientific integrity and company-wide uniformity.

*Understand, communicate and ensure proper consideration of ethical and privacy constraints linked to the use of the sourced bio-medical data sets.

*Coordinate from a data perspective the clients participation in large public-private partnerships such as IMI projects, effectively influence data workstreams to extract maximum value for the client.

*Liaise with the IT and Chief Data Office organisations, as well as with other data roles across the company to maximise transparency and value for the company.

Essential requirements

*A minimum of MSc (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, IT or an equivalent scientific discipline, a prolonged, intimate relationship with data, a strategic mindset and fearless attitude towards administrative barriers and legal terms.

*Previous experience with diverse biomedical data curation and management in a relevant life-science sector (pharmaceutical, academic or healthcare).

*Experience with defining a data strategy plan for an R&D department and for coordinating its implementation

*Proven track record of successful completion of multi-stakeholder projects necessitating coordination between several departments including IT, legal/IP and contracting.

*Excellent communication skills. Comfortable with presenting to C-level management.

*Knowledge of pharmaceutical research and development. Conceptual understanding of health informatics (EMR, claims), bioinformatics (omics), genetics and molecular biology is required.

*Previous experience with engaging in large public-private partnerships (e.g. IMI) is favourable.

*Knowledge of publicly available biobanks (UK Biobank, 1 M genomes) and bioinformatics repositories (e.g. dbGaP, GEO, EGA) and the procedures regarding data access is desirable.
