Manufacturing Engineering Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join a Global Life Sciences business based in the Cornwall Region. As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager you will be responsible for leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians, supporting the development and manufacturing of medical device products that are critical in saving lives.


Your duties as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1.Direct responsibility for a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians, including ongoing training and the teams personal development. You will have overall responsibility for the teams budget, adhering to revenue and capital spend. Lead and mentor the Engineering teams in solving manufacturing issues.

2.Purchase and introduce new machinery using validation and mechanical change control. Implement cost savings to the Business via process improvements and waste reduction initiatives. Identify areas in which engineering improvements can be made to increase quality, efficiency or safety. Project manage capital projects from initial concept through to successful completion and control the budgets. Working closely with key production stakeholders to determine priorities and ensure efficient product delivery.

3.You will be responsible for generating production documentation including specifications, training and maintenance guidelines. Ensure liaison with suppliers as a principle point of contact to resolve any technical, validation and quality issues. You will have direct responsibility for the safe working practice for all within the vicinity of any automated equipment. Demonstrate analytical ability within a manufacturing environment of production line issues.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. The successful candidate will be degree qualified with a BEng or MEng in a relate engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Production, Process, Automation or other related engineering practice. Chartered Engineering status is highly desirable.

2. You will have proven Engineering Leadership experience in a highly regulated production or manufacturing environment, ideally within the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology sector. Other highly regulated industries, such as Aerospace, will also be considered.

3. Proven experience in the successful implementation of lean manufacturing techniques is essential and ideally qualified in Lean Six Sigma (minimum of Green Belt or equivalent). Experience of implementing change in a highly regulated industry and an experienced practitioner in TPM culture, engagement and improvement is also required.
