Graduate Chemist x2

Our client is seeking a bright and dynamic graduate chemist to perform analytical testing of chemicals in support of the manufacturing process.

The successful candidate will have a 2:1 or 1st honours degree in science with some laboratory experience ideally within inorganic laboratories.


  • Carry out QC and analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products in support of the manufacturing process.
  • Actively contribute to R & D activities, in support of new chemical processes.
  • Assist with the preparation and issue of general certificates of analysis as required.
  • Assist with administration tasks: purchasing, documentation management and external sample testing.
  • Perform calibration activities on laboratory equipment as required.
  • Ensure that activities carried out are documented accordingly to ensure high quality standards and traceability.
  • Assist with all health, safety and environmental practices ensuring that a proactive approach to Health and Safety is brought to the laboratory area.
  • Liaise with the manufacturing team to ensure products are tested and released in a timely manner.
  • Carry out laboratory housekeeping and assist with the continuous improvement of quality systems in the laboratory.
  • Ensure that equipment is calibrated and maintained to the required standards.

To succeed in this role, the candidate must have the following skills;

  • Good spoken and written English is required.
  • Excellent understanding of inorganic chemistry.
  • Experience using ICP-OES or ion chromatography is desirable.
  • Good communication skills are required.
  • Good computer skills are required. Daily use of spreadsheets, word processors, email and computer managed laboratory equipment.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, well organised and possessing excellent problem solving skills.
