Paramount have partnered with a major new start up in Oxford that has made exceptional progress in the field of cancer diagnostics. Harnessing breakthrough technology from one of the most renowned academic institutions in the world, they are dedicated to making cancer diagnostics more sensitive, accurate and cheaper than ever before. Due to a recent substantial funding round, this exciting Biotech is now looking for talented and highly motivated Bioinformaticians to join their R&D team.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep knowledge of various statistical approaches required to analyse and interpret NGS data and will drive the creation of novel methods. We are looking for an enthusiastic Scientist with excellent communication skills, who thrives when working in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities may include:
*Creating and implementing novel methodologies and algorithms to enable the analysis of DNA sequence and methylation data for a range of R&D projects and clinical-grade assays
*Analyse and interpret sequence data to improve understanding of product performance and clinical utility
*Supporting wider teams with experimental design and clinical studies, as well as project requirements, planning, execution and reporting
*Working in close collaboration with the software team to support in writing production ready code
Skills and Experience required
*A PhD in Bioinformatics, statistical genetics, applied mathematics, statistics or related field.
*Experience in scientific programming, in particular python and/or R.
*Excellent statistical skills with post doctorial or industry experience of working with genomic or DNA-seq data
*An understanding of cancer genomics would be desirable (but not essential)
*A background in genomics lead diagnostics technologies would be desirable (but not essential)
*Strong team-working skills with previous experience of completing collaborative projects on time and within budget.
*Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to communicate complex ideas and information to a range of stakeholders.
*Enjoy working towards challenging goals in a fast-moving environment where on-time delivery of results is a high priority.
