A world renowned genomics research organisation based in London is currently seeking an experienced Statistical Geneticist to join their outstanding research function. This position would involve working on high calibre research collaborations within the pharmaceutical industry and academia. We are looking for someone with outstanding statistical skills, an understanding of machine learning and a deep knowledge of human genetics. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with external partners, and have excellent communication skills.
Main responsibilities will be:
*Performing high quality complex custom computational analysis on genomic data for a variety of research projects
*Working closely with partners in academia, NHS and industry to understand their research goals, and ensuring projects are successful
*Keeping up to date with scientific literature to identify new approaches for genomic analysis that can be implemented into the team
*Developing bioinformatics resources and scripts that will enable downstream analysis for users
The ideal candidate will have:
*A PhD in Statistical Genetics, Population Genetics, Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
*Strong statistical skills with experience of working on large human genomic data sets, with additional experience of clinical data being a bonus!
*Direct experience of working with whole genome/whole exome sequence data would be strongly beneficial
*Excellent repertoire of statistical methods, including some machine learning applications
* Competent coding ability, proficient in Python and R
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*Excellent communication skills, someone that enjoys the commercial aspect of working closely with customers or external partners
