Statistical Modelling - Data Science - Transcriptomics - Biomarker Discovery
Our team is eager to speak to an experienced candidate in statistical modelling & genetics for a new Principal level role based either remotely (Germany), from 2 office locations in Germany.
We are supporting the growth of the Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences function who are turning data into insights for the discovery and evaluation of new therapeutic concepts in discovery research. These teams are pioneering the applications of emerging digital technologies in order to enable the discovery and development of new medicines driven by data and digital tools.
This Principal Scientist role will be an integral part of the Human Genetics team and is a technical position to analyze and integrate multi-scale omics data (transcriptomics, epigenetics), develop new statistical models, lead research efforts, and work closely with the team developing algorithms or methods for patient stratification. This opportunity will really suit someone with an exploratory mindset, methodical approach and broad interest in identifying novel biomarkers.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
*Identification of biomarker classes through innovative computational methods to analyze and integrate multi-scale omics data.
*Lead translational research efforts to uncover biomarkers of disease heterogeneity and cohort stratification. Further complement these findings with disease understanding through advanced statistical analysis/association of genetic/genomic multivariate datasets
*Prototype workflows as needed for relevant data-types. Further interact with vendors to develop production versions
*Work closely within genetics team to develop classification tools for complex data patterns for intuitive patient stratification
*Work in in a fast paced changing environment interacting with data scientists, external partners and wetlab scientists to integrate novel findings for new target identification and prioritization of our portfolio
*Communicate clearly and effectively in verbal, visual, and written form to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
*PhD in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Computational Biology or related field
*Ideally three or more years of experience in the Pharmaceuticals/Academic sector and versed in state of the art biomarker technologies/omics platforms
*Experience in integrating and analyzing large-scale patient "omics" data, e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics etc, sets to identify new indications
*Demonstrated experience in biomarker subject matter and preferred experience in clinical drug development is beneficial, including basic or advanced understanding of critical development functions
*Strong data science capability, demonstrated skills in coding and engineering.
*Ability to translate biological and medical questions into analytical models
*Extensive background in statistical computing or bioinformatics, with experience in relevant programming languages (e.g. R, Python)
*Strong written and oral communication skills, self-motivation, independence and leadership
This role is extremely well compensated for the right person plus various benefits such as a bonus. Please don't hesitate to send through your CV to us for review!
