One of the UK's leading genomics research organisations, renowned for their pioneering work in personalised medicine, is currently seeking an experienced Bioinformatics Developer to join their team. This position would be responsible for developing and operating a range of digital products to support the wider Bioinformatics analysis teams. The ideal candidate will have a background in bioinformatics (or working within a bioinformatics environment), with a strong record of developing high quality code and building bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
Main responsibilities may include:
-Producing high quality code
-Implementing software solutions for high-throughput sequencing data analysis and genome analysis and interpretation
-Ensuring that all work adheres to the various standards and accreditations required for both clinical laboratory practice and software delivery
-Performing computational analysis for a range of projects
The ideal candidate will have:
-A Msc degree in Bioinformatics or Computer Science
-Excellent coding skills, particularly in Python
-Strong biological knowledge, with an understanding of human genetics
-Experience with the data sources and tools used in the analysis of NGS and Clinical Genomics data sets
-Experience of developing pipelines for AWS would be highly beneficial
-Experience in Django
-Familiarity with no-SQL databases such as HBASE, Soir or Elasticsearch.
