This is a great opportunity for a talented and driven data expert to join a global computational biology and digital sciences team looking to turn data into insights for the discovery and evaluation of new therapeutic concepts in Discovery Research.
As Data Engineer you are accountable for enabling the transformation of data into insights. Fully leveraging your expertise in pharmacology research and data management you will contribute to the ingestion and the maintenance of data necessary for driving approaches towards developing the next generation of high impact medicines.
Embedded in the growing Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences Unit you will have an impact on reinventing R&D, thereby actively contributing to the discovery of breakthrough therapies that will increase human health.
Tasks & Responsibilities
*As Data Engineer you support establishing and maintaining sustainable and comprehensive data assets according to the FAIR principles.
*You make these data assets available to therapeutic areas and data scientists within the Innovation Unit (IU).
*By utilizing your domain expertise you identify, validate and exploit new external data sources provided by academic and commercial partners.
*In close collaboration with data engineers and developers you contribute to the development of data analysis- and visualization platforms.
*Within your domain, you enable cross-functional linking of data concepts, vocabularies and taxonomies to ensure a seamless connection of data from different areas.
*PhD in biology, chemistry, bioinformatics, information sciences or a related field, alternatively completed Master studies with several years of professional experience
*Understanding of data domains that are relevant for pre-clinical and clinical drug discovery and development
*Profound understanding of data integration- and management concepts like e.g. semantic data integration or FAIR principles
*Familiarity with IT data infrastructure concepts like data lake and/or graph data bases
*Experience with programming- and query languages like Python, Java, SQL and SPARQL
*Excellent communication- and intercultural skills
