Paramount Recruitment is currently supporting the exciting early stages of growth for a genomics company based in Oxfordshire. With advanced technology and major scientific leaders in place, we are ready to hire a Lead Bioinformatician to drive the creation of new methods for the analysis and interpretation of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.
This company have recently hit an incredible milestone of funding and this technology will have a huge impact on personalised medicine for cancer patients. As a Lead Bioinformatician you will be working at the interface of senior staff in chemistry, molecular biology and software to build robust data processing pipelines and other tools and methods to enable the analysis of DNA sequence and methylation data for R&D projects, clinical studies and clinical-grade assays.
This is an opportunity for someone with an appetite to make an influence and significant contribution to this company's technology/product performance. Much of the work has not previously been done including combining Methylation and DNA data, you will also be collaborating on sequencing with access to real patient samples.
We are looking for an experienced candidate who has an exploratory mindset, can easily communicate across disciplines and understand the commercial execution required. Experience level is flexible from an individual contributor to a seasoned manager, the company is expanding and there is opportunity for growth at both levels.
*A PhD in Bioinformatics, statistical genetics or related field.
*Previous experience developing diagnostics products in the genomics industry would be advantageous
*Previous demonstrable experience of analysing next-generation sequencing data
*Programming experience in particular using python and/or R
*Proven ability in method development in the high throughput sequencing analysis space
*Demonstrable experience in conducting high-quality independent research with proven ability to write-up scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals
*Strong team-working skills with previous experience of completing collaborative projects on time and within budget
*Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to communicate complex ideas and information to a range of stakeholders
*Enjoy working towards exciting goals in a fast-moving environment where on-time delivery of results is a high priority
You will be joining a high energy group of individuals with a mix of world class industry, academic and commercial experience! Eventually this role will be based full time in Oxford, but we are flexible with home working and intermittent office presence during the pandemic.
