Data Scientist - Bioinformatics

Due to continued commercial success, a global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Data Scientist/Bioinformatician with excellent statistical skills to join their established team. The Bioinformatics team is responsible for driving multiple drug discovery and development programmes within the Oncology and Neuroscience space. This role will focus on developing advanced statistical methodologies, predicative approaches to data analysis and mathematical modelling.

Responsibilities could include:

*Developing and implementing statistical approaches to analyse diverse, multi-layered omics data types (genomic, proteomic, RNA-seq) to identify novel drug targets, biomarkers and therapeutic mechanisms
*Take the lead in the development of statistical, mathematical and machine learning methods for biomarker development and patient stratification strategies
*Integrating and performing meta-analysis of public and internal data sets to generate testable hypothesis
*Statistical analyse and interpret omics data from clinical trials

The ideal candidate will have:

*A PhD in a statistical science eg, Mathematics, Physics, Statistical Genetics, Computer Science or similar
*Excellent programming skills and proficient in Python, C++, R or similar
*A strong understanding of statistical concepts and a demonstrated proficiency in a range of approaches
*Previous experience of analysing and interpreting omics data sets within a Bioinformatics environment
*Experienced with regression, including linear/non-linear models and mixed effect models
*Knowledge of probabilistic approaches and supervised learning methods
*Fantastic communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team
