Lead Bioinformatician

Central London   •  £60000 - £97000 per annum, Benefits: Bonus   •  Permanent, Full time


We are currently looking for a Bioinformatician to join an exciting gene therapy company based in the London area where data is the heart of what they do. As the Bioinformatician you will be responsible for supporting the Director of Clinical Genetics to develop a genetic database to drive innovative use of omic data

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Bioinformatician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. As the bioinformatician you will lead the development and maintenance of a relational database handling genetic data from clinical trial patients, using bioinformatic techniques to identify rare variants in genes

2. You will lead bioinformatic analysis of proteomic datasets generated through clinical trials and academic interactions to answer biological questions and inform clinically meaningful biomarkers

3. To be successful in your role as the bioinformatician you will need to have strong programming skills in Python, Unix, Linux and statistical analysis in R

4. You will be using your experience in statistical genetics or statistical bioinformatics to identify rare variants to provide data that will make decisions on patient cell and gene treatment

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Bioinformatician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. PhD qualification or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or similar discipline

2. Strong programming skills in R with demonstrated ability to develop and automate analysis scripts and tools for broader use, and experience in any of: Unix, Python, Linux and shell scripting

3. Demonstrable experience with using bioinformatic tools to analyse genomic data
